Sprawling perennial shrub. Leaves are opposite, stemless and divided into two oval leaflets. Flowers (June to October) consists of five flexed-back yellow petals with red markings towards the base. Fruits are globular; wider than long.

Note this is likely a misidentification.

Distribution in the Hex

Although the plant prefers sandy limestone soils, it occurs in De Doorns Renosterveld Karoo in the Hex.
