Pentzia incana

skaapbossie, goeiekaroo

Aromatic dense bushy subshrub. Covered in short woolly hair. Small grey green leaves divided pinnately with linear lobes and small glands. Bears solitary small yellow flowerheads surrounded by bracts on a long peduncle. No ray florets present. Flowerheads appear in late winter.

P. incana is one of the most important pasture plants of the Karoo and its essential oils are thought to make a major contribution to the distinctive taste of Karoo lamb meat.
