Moraea tripetala

Slender geophyte up to 50 cm. Leaves are solitary and grow from the base, langer than the stem. Flowers from blue to purple, with white and yellow nectar guides. Flowers (late winter) have three conspicuous tepals (hence “tripetala”) and reduced inner petals.

Distribution in the Hex

South-east facing sandstone slopes of De Doorns Sandstone Fynbos vegetation.
