Perennial shrublet to 40 cm. Branching near base (divaricate). No spines (unarmed) as are present in some other Melolobium species. Trifoliolate leaves with stalked glands on short stalk with stipules. Leaflets obovate with mucronate (rounded) apex. Yellow flowers with sculptured wing petals in terminal inflorescence. Fruits are curved pods with 2-6 seeds. Hair on calyx and to a lesser extent on leaflets, stipules and fruit.

Distribution in the Hex

Sandy flats in lower De Doorns Sandstone Fynbos. Clay flats in De Doorns Renosterveld in upper valley.
