Stemless leaf succulent. Usually alone or in small clusters. Partially translucent leaves form a rosette of 6 to 12 cm, sometimes somewhat embedded in the ground. Spines on the leaf margins are soft and hairy, resembling a cobweb.
The variety growing in the Hex is H. arachnoidea var. dimorphoides.
