Cyanella lutea
geel raaptol
Cormous geophyte up to 15 cm. Leaves linear to lance-shaped. Flowers (September to October) in branched racemes, yellow or pink, fragrant, with 5 upper and 1 larger lower stamen.
The yellow subspecies ocurring in the Hex is known as C. lutea lutea. C. lutea is buzz-polinated, meaning that pollen is released in response to the vibrations of buzzing insects.

Clay flats of De Doorns Renosterveld Karoo.
