Boophone disticha

Bulbous geophyte up to 50 cm. The leaves, of which there are 12-20, are usually dry at flowering and arranged in a fan. They are sword-shaped, channelled, grey with wavy edges and a sharp tip. Between 50 and 100 pink or red flowers (September to March) are borne in a dense cluster. The fruit are trigonous and ribbed.

Rocky upper slopes in De Doorns Renosterveld Karoo.
